We get up on the roof to find where the water's actually getting in - it's often not directly above where the stain appears - and fix that, not just patch the symptom.
That can mean replacing individual tiles or slates, re-bedding and re-pointing ridge tiles, or renewing flashing where it's come away from a chimney or wall. Left alone, small leaks lead to bigger timber problems, so we deal with repairs promptly rather than letting them sit.
