A new roof installation starts with stripping back to the structure so we can see exactly what we're working with. Timber is checked and replaced where it's rotten or undersized, then felt or a breathable membrane goes down before battens are fixed at the right spacing for the tile or slate being used.
Tiling or slating is done in straight, even courses with proper overlap, and every junction - ridges, hips, verges, and anywhere the roof meets a wall or chimney - gets flashed and sealed properly. We clear all the old materials and rubbish before we finish, so you're not left with a skip full of debris to deal with.

When a roof's reached the point where repairs keep coming back, a full replacement is the more sensible option. We strip everything back to the rafters, replace any timber that's gone soft or split, and rebuild the roof properly with new underlay, battens and covering.
We'll match the existing tiles or slates where that's what's wanted, or talk through alternatives if you're looking to upgrade the material. Flashing and pointing around chimneys, valleys and abutments is renewed as part of the job, not left as an afterthought, and the site is left clear when we're done.

Most repair callouts are for slipped or cracked tiles, a leak that's shown up as a damp patch on a ceiling, or damage after a storm. We get up on the roof to find where the water's actually getting in - it's often not directly above where the stain appears - and fix that, not just patch the symptom.
That can mean replacing individual tiles or slates, re-bedding and re-pointing ridge tiles, or renewing flashing where it's come away from a chimney or wall. Left alone, small leaks lead to bigger timber problems, so we deal with repairs promptly rather than letting them sit.

Roof maintenance is about catching the small things - a loose tile, moss building up, pointing starting to crumble - before they turn into a leak. A maintenance visit covers clearing debris and moss off the tiles, checking gutters aren't blocked, and going over flashing and ridge lines for any movement.
Anything minor gets fixed on the spot where possible. If something bigger's found, like timber that needs attention or a section that's due for replacement, we'll tell you straight what it needs and what the options are.

Flat roofs need a different approach to pitched ones - the covering has to be laid so water actually runs off rather than sitting and finding its way in. We fit felt, GRP or single-ply systems depending on what suits the roof, with proper upstands and edge trims at every joint.
Repairs are common where an old felt roof has started to blister, crack or lift at the seams. We'll assess whether a repair will hold or whether the roof's due a full recover, and get outlets and gutters clear so water isn't left standing.

A free inspection is a proper look at the roof, not just a glance from the pavement. We check the tiles or slates, the ridge and hip lines, flashing around chimneys and walls, and the guttering, and where it's useful we'll take a look in the loft for signs of damp or daylight coming through.
You get a straight answer on what we found - if it's fine, we'll say so, and if something needs doing we'll explain what it is and why, with photos where that helps make it clear.
